ADHERENCE

"Increasing the effectiveness of adherence interventions may have a far greater impact on the health of the population than any improvement in specific medical treatments." (WHO)*

One of the greatest challenges faced by healthcare professionals is medication adherence. Adherence can potentially mean the difference between a patient surviving and seeing their condition deteriorate. Despite tremendous effort made in recent years to find a solution to the problem, 20% to 80% of patients who are supposed to take medication are non-adherent.1-3 Studies have demonstrated that 50% of patients on long-term therapy are non-adherent after one year.4-7 These high rates of non-adherence can be attributed to the complexity of the phenomenon of adherence.

This is why Rx Connect Specialty Pharmacy offers a wide range of solutions and support services to enhance patient adherence to their medication.
